What the e-visa allows

The e-visa is issued for stays of up to 90 days, as a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. Eligible nationalities and the rules can change, so confirm that your passport is covered before you plan travel. Since August 2023 e-visas are open to citizens of all countries and territories. Citizens of 12 countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) can also enter without a visa for up to 45 days under a waiver that runs from 15 March 2025 to 14 March 2028, so they need an e-visa only for longer stays.

Use the official portal only

The government e-visa service is run by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security. Many private sites look official and charge several times the government fee for the same service. The official portals are evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn; type the address yourself rather than following an advertisement, and check that the address ends in gov.vn before you enter any passport data.

Fees and processing

As checked on 21 October 2026 the government fee is 25 US dollars for a single-entry e-visa and 50 US dollars for multiple entry, paid online by card. Processing normally takes a few working days, so apply well before your flight. Any site asking for far more than these amounts is probably an agent adding a service charge.

Filling in the form

Upload a recent passport-style photo and a clear scan of your passport data page. Type your full name exactly as printed in the passport, in the same order; airlines can refuse boarding when the e-visa name does not match the passport. Enter your planned entry and exit checkpoints carefully, because they are printed on the visa and cannot normally be changed after approval.

At the border

Carry a printed copy of the approval, a return or onward ticket and proof of accommodation for the first night. Immigration officers may ask for them. Keep a digital copy on your phone as a backup.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the e-visa valid?

Up to 90 days. Check the validity dates printed on your approval.

Can I change my entry checkpoint after approval?

Normally not. Choose the airport or border gate you will actually use.

Why was my application refused?

Common reasons are mismatched names, unreadable photos or scans and incomplete address fields.
